Meeting project

The Time for Dolls club met last Sunday.  In addition to our usual business, we did a "Softie-Go-Round."  Carolyn made a bunch of random monster shapes, enough for everyone in the club to have one.  We each chose from a bag, the timer was set, and we had seven minutes to do the first thing to start our little monster.  We then passed to the left, the timer was set again for seven minutes, and so on, until each doll made its way around the entire group.  They were all terrific, and each completely different.

I've also been working on tinting and glazing a gourd, ala Jean Bernard. I like the way this one is going, and hope it will work for a doll the way my mind's eye sees it.

Exquisite Corpse Round Robin

The Cloth Souls doll group just completed an "Exquisite Corpse" round robin.  Basically, we did these like a flat doll, on a fabric panel, divided into thirds.  Each of us started with the panel background and our doll's face/head/neck, and then covered our work.  The next artist did the mid section, and the last artist did from the hip line down.    Indications were on the fabric coverings as to where the body part above had ended.

This is mine (with a "veiled" face):

Mickey's:

Mary's:

Barbara's (done on black velvet)

Linda's (note the dog at her feet):

Tried to get a group shot, but I'm not tall enough, so had to split the photos:

We're all so excited and pleased with the results, we're going to get together next month and quilt them - and we're taking what we've learned, and starting another set, this time with larger panels, divided into quarters.

July is Past - a Month of Visits

Just like that, the month of July is over.  I cannot believe how quickly it slipped away.  We filled the month with visits and arrivals.  It began with Bekah and family arriving to spend the Fourth of July with us.  "Pop" decided fishing was in order for much of the time they were here.  This is his example of how to fish:

And this is reality of fishing with young children:

And *I* caught the biggest fish - just scooped it out of the water with my bare hands!

While they were here, a new baby cousin arrived in Arizona!  Welcome to Azlyn, our newest (fourth) granddaughter:

She got here on the first - even better than fireworks, just a couple days later:

Our newest wildlife visitors - baby raccoons!

And I swear, there was a hummingbird visiting when I took the photo:

The first visit from a rainbow around here in years:

And Cosmo now visits my lap regularly.  It feels as though someone else's cat has moved in, old Mr. Touch-Me-Not actually likes attention now.
