Again, City Fresh

I'll probably post these photos every week I participate, assuming I remember! To me, this is just the best of both worlds - bringing fresh produce to city dwellers, and supporting local agriculture. I'm delighted with everything I've gotten, made a commitment to trying everything - even the unfamiliar - and it's helping me stretch my Cleveland wings a bit, too.

As an example, I did not know that Cleveland had a Co-op, until I started participating in City Fresh. Images of Minneapolis' Wedge Co-op dance in my head - no clue if that's accurate, but a gal can dream.

Last night we had the yellow squash, the zucchini, the bell pepper, and the Japanese eggplant with some onion, drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with sea salt and some herbs, all done together in the grill pan. It was wonderful. The potatoes went into potato salad (which my Oldtimer claims is like candy). We had the corn on the cob the very night we got it, and it was delicious.

Every week, I feel as I've picked up a bag of treasure! Love this program, and think it's delightful that they allow weekly pay, instead of an entire season up front.

Sue, I checked around my area and we don't have this kind of co-op nearby, but you've inspired me to take better advantage of the local crop of summer vegetables anyway! We're eating vegetarian tonight....

...and you know it not a staggering amount of anything so you won't get tired of eating it or feel like you've wasted your money on a veg you don't like. What a great program! My daughter tried one and found it was not local produce just imported stuff purchased from the wholesaler and they got way too much of too small a selection. You can't eat two big bunches of spinach fast enough if only one in the family likes it.
