When we returned, we threw ourselves into the renovation of the store building that became Oldtimer & Lily. (We had closed the real estate deal the day before we left for Paris, and I had to promise my Oldtimer that I would not think of it while we were in Paris!)
Retailing being what it is, and the fact that four months after we opened the doors came the attack on the World Trade Center, and all the ensuing lousy economy, for our fifth anniversary we had fried chicken and wedge fries from the gas station in Norlina.
Frankly, I don't remember what we did last year. I wonder if I blogged about it. (Nope.)

But this year we are going to the Taj Indian Restaurant here in Cleveland. Kind of in-between gas station chicken and chocolate waffles, no? Life is good.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SUE AND OLD TIMER!
happy anniversary!! :D
Belated Happy Anniversary!!!!!
For our first anniversary we had weiners and beans over a campstove ... huddled on a cold beach in early May... the only ones there because the park was not even open yet.... then quickly hopped into the old van and cranked on some heat and fell into bed... exhausted from a long drive on a very windy day..in a borrowed camper/van... going home to B.C. after checking out Calgary. We packed up our stuff the following week ..and moved here. Never looked back... best move we ever made...
Not funny but I know the gas station with the good fried chicken. Happy belated anniversary.
